Good Carb

The biggest diet craze in recent years is low carb dieting. But more and more people are beginning to realize that going low carb isn't necessarily the best way to lose weight. Sure, it works great in the short-term, particularly when it comes to burning fat, but when you get tired of your limited choices (and you will) you'll be right back where you started, and you might gain even more weight in the process. A better idea is to reduce your calorie intake and switch to good carbs.

Variety is the Spice of Life
To lose weight, what you really need to do is give up the bad stuff--anything made with white flour and/or sugar. Foods made with these things are considered bad carbs, and they contribute to weight gain. A good carb is much harder for your body to digest, which sounds bad, but it's not. If a good carb is hard to digest, it means it will take longer to digest, which means you will feel full longer. That, in turn means you won't eat as much and as often.

So what goods are considered to be good carb foods? These:

Whole grains
Whole wheat or whole grain breads and crackers
Whole wheat pasta
Brown or long grain rice
Fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables

Most good carb food has a lot of fiber, which is excellent for your body. Not only does fiber keep you feeling full, it also keeps you "regulated." Low carb diets limit how much fiber, fruits and vegetables you can have. That means you are missing out on a lot of vital nutrients and you aren't "regulated." Plus, a low carb diet has a lot of unpleasant side-effects. So if you're thinking of going on a low carb diet, try a good carb instead.
