Low Carbohydrate Recipes

If you're on a low carb diet, you can get pretty sick of the same few dishes all the time. And it's so hard to come up with new ideas--unless you're armed with low carbohydrate recipes. We've added some low carbohydrate recipes to our site to get you started below.

Low Carbohydrate Recipes for Breakfast
It's often been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Traditionally, a fast and easy breakfast is cereal, but people on a low carb diet typically skip the cereal and opt for a protein shake or something similar that has a lot of protein. Check out these low carbohydrate recipes for breakfast.

Strawberry Shake
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 Splenda packets
1/2 cup frozen strawberries, partially thawed
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
1/4 cup water
5 ice cubes

Blend in blender until ice is integrated into mixture. Serve.

Cheesy Ham Scramble
You can make this a breakfast-to-go by putting it in a low carb tortilla and making it a breakfast burrito.

1/4 cup diced ham
1 cup cheese
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk

1. Whisk eggs and milk together, add ham.
2. Pray a skillet with cooking spray and pour the egg mixture in it.
3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Low Carbohydrate Lunch Recipes
Lunch can be tricky on a low carb diet, especially if you work and can't throw a steak or chicken breast on the grill. Here are some low carbohydrate recipes for lunch.

Low Carb Chef Salad
One half wedge of iceberg lettuce
2 strips of cooked bacon, chopped
1 Tablespoon of crumbled blue cheese
1 1/2 cups of chicken, cut into bite size pieces

1. Cut up lettuce and put it in a bowl.
2. Add the bacon, blue cheese and chicken.
3. Add dressing. (Blue cheese dressing is recommended.)

Of course, you might opt to go out for lunch. If so, check out the low carb wrap sandwiches at Subway. Prefer to make your own? Just make your favorite sandwich using a whole-wheat tortilla instead of bread. Some people even use a lettuce leaf instead of bread.

Reuben Wraps
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 large slices (4 oz) deli-style corned beef
1/2 cup sauerkraut, drained
4 large lettuce leaves, such a butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce
1/4 cup Thousand Island dressing, plus extra for dipping

1. Place the corned beef slices on your work surface. Put one slice of cheese on each slice of corned beef. Top with the sauerkraut. Roll up and secure with a toothpick, if needed.
2. To assemble the wraps, place about 1 tbsp Thousand Island dressing in the center of each lettuce leaf, followed by the roll. Wrap the lettuce around the roll and serve with extra dressing.

This recipe can also be made hot. To do so, after step one, heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the "rolls" in the pan and cover. Cook for 2 minutes or until the corned beef is a shade or two darker. Remove the cover, turn, and cook the other side of the rolls until the cheese is melted and the corned beef is browned. Then assemble.

Low Carbohydrate Recipes for Dinner
For most dieters, dinner is the hardest meal to plan. But these low carbohydrate recipes are simple and require minimal prep work.

Sour Cream Chicken Bake
